At this time, we would like to inform you that AOPC has had a staff member test positive for Covid-19
Firstly, I am glad to report that they are doing well.
AOPC was very proactive when we found out that there was even a possibility of an exposure and we shut down the facility immediately, cancelling all patients starting on Wednesday, April 13. We appreciated everyone’s understanding and support when we contacted them. Confirmation of a positive test wasn’t received until Friday, April 16 so we did get ahead of this. Also, this staff member had no patient contact during the preceding days and thanks to our internal protocols there is exceedingly low probability that there would be any risk to any of our patients. At this time, Alberta Health Services has not deemed that any of the rest of the staff would be considered close contacts but with the volume of cases that they have seen in the past few weeks they have not been able to look at our situation yet. With this in mind, AOPC will be remaining closed until we have clear guidance from AHS. Right now, we will assume that we will fall under the 14-day isolation protocol which means we should be able to open our doors again starting April 28. Again, this is an assumption until we hear from AHS and have more information. If you have appointments booked between now and then, you can expect an email, text and possibly a phone call to cancel that appointment. Unfortunately, we will not be rebooking those appointments until we have a confirmed date when we will be reopening. Please be kind to any AOPC staff that is contacting you. As you can imagine, they have been under a lot of stress through this and have been amazing in putting our patient’s well-being first. Please check back here and watch your email for updates.
